This week at FIEA
This week at FIEA wont be a long blog as I have been continuing to work on my recreating an existing level assignment.
Concept and Planning:
This week there was not much in terms of planning this out as I did that last week but to restate my planning was pretty straight forward. Like the last assignment I start with going into Bioshock and grabbing a bunch of in game screen shots to use as reference to build the level. Along with screen shots I had a video of the whole level so I can get other points of view of each area in action.
However this week I received feedback and when it came to planning I pivoted to having the game open on my other monitor to be able to reference it better.
Development Process:
I am nearing the end of the development process with this assignment. I have continued to use cube grid, UE5 modeling mode to block out the level. From feedback I got I need to go back room by room to make changes to sections that aren't scaled correctly. This time around I had the game running to compare instead of a video or pictures.
Challenge and solutions
This week I faced some pretty big challenges regarding my scale over last weekend and level of detail. I had to go back and fix my scale with all my rooms. With this I continued to reference the game and re-iterate on each room to make sure the scale would improve. Not knowing the metrics used for the scale of the player, walls, props, etc made the block out process and re scaling of each room harder to judge and wrap my head around.
