This week at FIEA

This week in FIEA   This week I finished my second Level Design project where I recreated the first level of Bioshock. ]               Concept and Planning.  Rather than going over my concept and planning again for recreating the first level I will talk about the redesigned room part of the assignment .  This part of the assignment had us redesign one of the rooms in our chosen level to be our on spin on the space. With that I decided to go with the first room in the level when the player arrives at Rapture.  My concept was to expand the room with adding more bathyspheres, suit cases, and dolly's in this space to better sell the environmental and narrative story telling upon entering Rapture. When the player first enters Rapture they are greeted with a grim room ruin down and upon entering the next room the player can barely see as it is dark but what they can make out is rubble with the room cluttered with suit cases...

This week at FIEA

This week at FIEA wont be a long blog as I have been continuing to work on my recreating an existing level assignment.  Concept and Planning:           This week there was not much in terms of planning this out as I did that last week but to restate my planning was pretty straight forward. Like the last assignment I start with going into Bioshock and grabbing a bunch of in game screen shots to use as reference to build the level. Along with screen shots I had a video of the whole level so I can get other points of view of each area in action.  However this week I received feedback and when it came to planning I pivoted to having the game open on my other monitor to be able to reference it better. Development Process: I am nearing the end of the development process with this assignment. I have continued to use cube grid, UE5 modeling mode to block out the level. From feedback I got I need to go back room by room to make changes to sections th...

This week at FIEA we got started on our next big level design project. In this project we are tasked with recreating an existing level from a game! For this I decided to go with the first level from one of my favorite games Bioschock.  Concept and Planning:           Planning this out was pretty straight forward. Like the last assignment I start with going into Bischock and grabbing a bunch of in game screen shots to use as reference to build the level. Along with screen shots I had a video of the whole level so I can get other points of view of each area in action.  I also went a made a top down map to further plan out the layout and design of Bioshocks first level  Development Process: This project is still in development but I am about half way through it. I start with throwing the top down map in engine and start using cub grid to block out the floors and walls. Going room by room was the way I decided to tackle this level rather t...
